Introducing Our August 2021 Brands

This month's Shopping Day themed box introduces you to 4 more amazing Australian owned brands and we couldn't be more excited for you to get to know them.

First cab off the rank is.....

It's kind of hard to keep the product a surprise since Huskee only make coffee cups but I don't mind. It was totally worth ruining one of the surprises to include this brand in the box.

The HuskeeCup is made primarily from recycled husks of beans, a by-product of coffee processing that would otherwise be discarded by growers. Thanks to a clever finned design, these husks come together to form a cup which is more chip-resistant than ceramic, and more heat-retentive than glass. The result is a durable and reliable reusable coffee cup, free from BPA or other hazardous chemicals.

They are also now a Certified B Corporation!

B-Corps are businesses that meet the highest standards of verified social and environmental performance, public transparency, and legal accountability to balance profit and purpose.

Vin and Mel from Wakatobi Eco started their company with a vision of helping people reduce the use of single use plastics in their everyday life and promote a zero-waste lifestyle.

The name 'Wakatobi' comes from a beautiful island in Indonesia, where a lifeless 9.5-meter sperm whale was found stranded off the coast. The cause of its passing was unknown, but what we do know is that a staggering of 5.9 kg of plastic items were found in its stomach.
WWF and locals suggested that finding a stranded whale in Wakatobi waters is not common. Presumably, they think that the whale migrated to Wakatobi waters from Australia.

Despite the unknown cause of its passing, whether it was indeed plastic pollution that has caused massive ingestion or infection, it was a turning point that we need to face this issue head on.

We've been trying to find a way to incorporate a Green Jellyfish Company product into one of our boxes since we launched and this month we've made it happen.

This company is a small Perth based business and owner and founder Nicole makes all of her products with the environment at the forefront of her mind using natural fabrics wherever possible, non-toxic water-based inks, as well as trying to utilise deadstock and remnants. We highly recommend you check out her Etsy Store and support another small business.

Finally for this month we have,

4 My Earth is an Australian family run business that has been helping homes, schools and businesses reduce the amount of waste going to landfill since 2007.This brand is another I discovered while I was researching Australian owned eco-friendly brands before Simple Swaps Box was launched and have been chatting with Julia about including one of their products since then. They have a great range of products to help reduce single use plastic in your home.

And that my friends, is it for this month. I'll be back soon to tell you all about the products you will find in your boxes this month.
