Introducing Our July 2021 Brands

It’s that time again! Let me introduce you to the brands chosen for this month’s Simple Swaps Box. This one is Laundry themed and as always, I’m so excited to share these great brands with you and can’t wait to hear what you think.

First cab off the rank is…Dirt

Let me start by saying how genuinely surprised I was when I polled the Simple Swaps Community to find that the vast majority of people prefer to use liquid over powder. I’ve always been a powder fan myself and just thought most other people were the same. Thankfully I asked the question so I could give you guys what you wanted.

That led me to The Dirt Company. Here is a little bit about how the company came to be taken directly from their website:

“In 2016, we had an epiphany. The household cleaning products that we were filling our homes seemed to sit at either end of a spectrum. On one end, they were full of harsh, irritating, excess chemicals, contained in excess packaging. At the other, they were built with the environment in mind, but as a result required us to sacrifice either in price, performance.
We wondered why there was not an environmentally friendly option, free from synthesised chemicals and excess packaging, that was affordable and performed extremely well. Turns out, it was possible (albeit difficult) to create this product, but for various reasons ranging from pre-existing misconceptions, through to profit margins — it wasn’t on the market.
So Frankie, Josh, Tom and Bill started creating formulas, exploring packaging options, building websites, washing clothes, doing business plans, designing and washing more clothes, until they were finally satisfied. The result, Dirt Laundry Detergent; an extremely high performing laundry concentrate, that’s great on your clothes, skin, planet and hip-pocket.”
I have personally heard fantastic reviews and cannot wait for it to arrive so I can try it for myself and see if I can be swayed away from my beloved washing powder.

Activated Eco
What a great company. Founders and friends Jesse and Chris started this business in 2017. I love that they started their business after comparing recycling methods and having a conversation around the misconception that many people feel that ‘going green’ is an all or nothing concept. That’s the exact reason I decided to start Simple Swaps Box, but these guys decided to start with laundry. After researching which household items were the most problematic in terms of  plastic waste and the impact they have on the planet, they set the wheels in motion and launched their online store with their first signature item, stainless steel infinity pegs. They have since added so many more great products to their range and we can’t wait to introduce you to them.

Handmade By Helen
Given everything that has been going on in Victoria with COVID lockdowns and restrictions and how much small business are suffering, I really wanted to support a Melbourne small business by including them in this month’s box. Helen has loved sewing since she was a child taught by her Grandma and even though she primarily sells baby items, she was kind enough to custom make me an item to include in this month’s Deluxe Box. I’m so happy to be able to support this small business with my small business.

Perfect Potion
Owner and founder Sal started this his company over 30 years ago! His book The Complete Guide to Aromatherapy has become the go to guidebook for many aromatherapists. These Australian owned quality essential oils are made with strict organic, natural and cruelty free certifications. They harmonise social and environmental concerns and their manufacturing facility it powered by the sun. How cool is that?!

And that’s it for this month folks. Another 4 awesome brands bringing you closer to a more eco conscious home. Stay tuned for the product reveal on the 1st of the month.
Order’s for the July box close on Sunday 20thof June so if you want to secure your, head to the store and order soon.
